Graduating Late & That’s Okay

May 5, 2016

Its May and I am a Senior in college.

Almost all of my friends are posting pictures in their cap and gowns, senior pictures, going to graduate schools, and counting down the days until they get their degree they have worked so hard for. And I am SO PROUD of them!
College is not easy, so walking across that stage is a huge deal!

But,
I am not walking this May.
I transferred to the University of Arkansas in December of 2013, and as great of a decision that was, I am now graduating a semester late. It’s hard seeing all of my friends getting to take this next step in life, while I have to be patient and wait (especially because I am lacking in the patience department). But you know what I have come to realize?
That it is okay.

Most people do not even graduate from college once they begin. So even if I am a semester late, thats normal! I saw a statistic that said only about 40% of college students graduate in four years time. (So friends, GO YOU!)
If you are like me, you don’t like school and you would much rather work 9-5, five days a week. So I am trying to look at the positives of staying in school a semester late.
-If my part-time job has me working the closing shift, and my class for the day doesn’t start until noon, I get to sleep in. 😀
-If I don’t have classes one day, nor do I have to work? I can do whatever I want for the entire day!
-If I don’t feel good one day and just don’t feel like going to class, I do
not have to go! (even though I should)
So if you’re in the same boat as me, just remember that it is okay and one day you’ll get to walk across that stage and get your diploma that you have worked so hard to achieve.
xoxo
