Four Ways to Stay Busy and Productive During Quarantine

March 17, 2020

Everyone seems to be self quarantining and I am so happy! I would love it if we could all just stay busy at home for a few weeks so we can stop COVID19 in its tracks. Life can still go on while trying to social distance away from others.

Here are a few things I am doing in order to stay busy at home, while still maintaining a healthy (kind of) lifestyle.

Read A Book– Now now now, I know everyone is saying this.. Before just two years ago, I could say that I had not completed a book that was not mandatory for school since high school. Now, I love reading books! Some of my favorites are self helps such as Girl, Wash Your Face, and Bossypants. I am currently reading books on how to prepare for marriage. Derek and I are both reading the 5 Love Languages right now. Reading a book is good for the mind. I prefer a good, old-fashioned, in my hand, book. I do not like audiobooks because my mind wanders too much. Also reading on an iPad/Kindle gives me a headache since I look at screens all day long. Give me a good book and I am good to go!

Declutter Your Closet– This is a big one for me! Derek and I now have three closets (plus a coat closet) that are packed to the rim. We do not need all of this stuff and really need to go through and begin to simplify our life. Do I need 86 pairs of shoes? Absolutely not. Especially when I do not wear 85% of them. There are so many people out there who could use some of this stuff, and it’s time that I go through it and declutter and donate it! Below are some of my favorite organizing items. I have THIS jewelry holder and I LOVE it.

Do Some Home Workouts– You all know that I LOVE going to CycleBar Rock City. It is one of my favorite ways to keep my heart pumping! They are taking extra measures to ensure that the studio stays clean and sanitized, but at the same time, I am still staying home. Bad timing considering our wedding is in May, however, there are some ways to stay healthy while staying home! Below are some companies offering free at-home workouts during this time:

  • Tone It Up has some amazing YouTube workouts for you! You can check it out HERE.
  • Pure Barre is giving you an extended opportunity to try out their services. Use code: EXTENDEDTRIAL for 60 days free! You can try that link HERE.
  • THIS is one of my favorite 10- minute abdominal workouts. Yes, it will make you sore even just for 10 minutes.

Binge Watch Netflix Remember when I said to be “kind of healthy” haha! Well, I love Netflix just like the rest of ya’ll. Some of my favorite shows to watch on there are:

  • Schitts Creek *** SO GOOD***
  • You
  • Stranger Things
  • Riverdale
  • Orange is the New Black
  • The Haunting of Hill House
  • Queer Eye
  • Narcos
  • House of Cards
  • Ozark

I know a lot of people are saying this is a cold or like the flu, it will not affect them, etc. Think about those people who it will affect. Your grandmother, your friend who is immunodeficient who does not want people to know. I know it is hard to wrap your head about that it could turn out here how it did in Italy, but we have got to follow CDC guidelines and stay home as much as possible if we want this to not overwhelm our hospitals. I love you guys, and stay safe!

xoxo, Brooke Anne
