This is What You Should Wear Hiking in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
When we first booked our trip to Jackson Hole, the first thing I began to Google was “What to wear hiking in Jackson Hole, Wyoming”. Do you know how much information I could find? Not much…haha! However, one thing I did keep seeing was to wear layers. I am so happy that we did!
Some areas of the trails would be cold and windy, and in other parts, you would be in an open meadow in straight sunshine. The number of times the jacket went on and they came off was hysterical. I ended up just enduring the more cold areas and putting on my beanie because I knew I would either be burning up from going uphill or being in the sun before too long.
Before our trip, I knew it was going to be cold so I snagged this vest from Nordstrom, and a few other items from Backcountry (THIS, THIS, and THIS). It is down so it really keeps you warm! In my opinion, if my chest is warm the rest of my body temperature tends to stay relatively regulated.
If you know my husband, you know he goes ALL OUT for everything. I mean…I do too but I will shop at Amazon for things like….socks. These socks are incredible!! Derek had some fancy hiking socks and he ended up wearing some extras that I got and he liked them more than his. Moisture-wicking socks are especially important when hiking in a more wet climate. Can you imagine walking in freezing cold weather with wet feet? EEEEEEK.
Lastly, and maybe most importantly…. footwear. You need a good set of hiking boots. I prefer high tops because they give you more support on rocks or uneven surfaces. Most hiking boots are waterproof or water-resistant, but you will want to double-check on that also. Derek and I both wear Solomons. One thing that I really like about them is you do not have to really “break them in”. They are also incredible quality! I have this pair and I can not recommend them enough! You can find a great selection of hiking boots HERE.
We had the best time on our trip, and you can watch a short video we made HERE. Hopefully, there will be more outdoor adventures we can bring you along on. 🙂
