Woah, where do I begin! If you have been following me for a while you know that Derek and I love our fair share of blackjack and the slots (well, derek is not really a slot machine fan but I am!). One of the first places we actually went on an overnight trip was to Choctaw Casinos & Resorts- Pocola when I lived in Fayetteville for college. We went back a few weekends ago and seriously had the BEST time!
When we first got there we did a walk around to see what all we would have the opportunity to do while we are there. There are two restaurants, Seven Ponies Buffet, and Trophy’s Bar and Grill. Derek and I actually went to Trophy’s for every meal! It was so so so good, and their steak did not even need a steak sauce! You can see what I had for breakfast above and it looked SO YUMMY!
So, as I said above Derek is not as big of a fan of slots as I am! However, he won more than I did so I know he had some fun! 😉 One thing that I did not know is that Pocola has 1,600 different slot machine games that you can play. I don’t know about you, but that could keep me busy for hours! Especially if we keep winning! The hostess’ were also very sweet. My drink was hardly ever empty because they just kept coming around- I love that!
Aside from all of the gaming, good food (well…great!) and drinks, you can see big concerts! We were there and go to see Maddie & Tae! Choctaw was so kind and had us a reserved table right in front of the action. One thing that I exceptionally enjoyed were the people that would come out and two step during upbeat songs. Also, Choctaw has some AMAZING artists that come out. A few examples of some past artists are, Eli Young Band, Backroad Anthem, Joe Nichols, Gretchen Wilson and Cheech and Chong! How fun do all of those sound?! I am definitely going to be looking at Pocola for a new place to see some big name bands! They also have waitresses that will walk around so you are huddled around a crowded bar.
The morning that we were getting ready to leave we just relaxed. We did not stay up all night (umm in bed by 11 over here!), and while Derek was hanging out in the living area watching television and getting ready, I was sitting in bed enjoying a hot cup of coffee and reading a book. The beds are so comfy and the large window lets in some amazing natural light! While we were sitting there, Derek actually said how much he enjoyed out evening and we will be returning and coming back so soon! It is only a 2.5 hour drive from Little Rock, an hour from Fayetteville, and next door to Fort Smith. So everyone who is around the Arklahoma border would have such an easy trip in!
Life is short my friends, so you need to enjoy it while you can! At Pocola we definitely enjoyed ourselves. From the food to the drinks, and the games to the concert. We had the best experience at Pocola and I am so grateful they hosted Derek and I for the exciting evening.
