Alright, guys, we all know that most of us will not find a skincare regimen to work perfectly for the rest of our lives. As we age and as the seasons change, our skin changes. I have been getting SO many questions lately on my skin, and I decided to go ahead and do a FULL post. This will cover daytime routine/nighttime routine/botox etc! Soooo buckle up and grab some coffee because this will be a long one- but a very informative one!
First of all, let’s start in the day time! I was an avid Tula user for a few years- every single product I put on my face was Tula. However, those products are pretty gentle and I noticed I needed to start getting into more powerful products that my skin will need to ease into. I still use the Tula exfoliating mask and acne spot treatment. Those are Holy Grails! (ITSBROOKEANNE gets you 15% off!)
Face Wash: Youth to the People, Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser
This stuff is so good. It is gentle, fragrance-free, packed with good things for your skin like vitamins C, E, and K, and is free of sulfates and parabens! I do a single cleanse with this stuff and it really makes my skin glow and gets is squeaky clean!
Toner: REN Clean Skincare, Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Toner
When I first read that this was a glow toner, I was a little nervous. However, it has lactic acid in it which is an exfoliant, so I decided to give it a try. This toner has quickly become one of my favorites. You can definitely feel it when you apply it, and it instantly makes my skin seem brighter and more smooth texture. I have been using it for about a month now and I can 100% say my skin looks brighter! This toner is look for pores, dullness, and uneven texture and it does NOT contain sulfates, parabens, and comes in recyclable packaging!
Retinol: Skinceuticals Retinol 1.0
Retinol has been consistently a part of my routine for about 8 months now. I started out using this one but I did not see a huge difference in my skin and for my high price point I was expecting more. I decided to try the Skinceuticals and I am so glad I did. *WARNING: DO NOT BEGIN WITH THE 1.0 RETINOL* This is a powerful powerful product and it will irritate your skin and your skin will peel like crazy. I highly recommend starting out with the Retinol .3, then working your way to the Retinol .5, then making your way up to the Retinol 1.0. Just like using any other powerful product, your skin might break out after consistent use for about 2 weeks. It is just part of the process. This product has brightened my skin, helps limit breakouts, evens texture, and helps control my oil! You guys, this stuff is so worth the price tag!
Moisturizer: Beautycounter Countercontrol Matte Effect Gel Cream
One thing that you have to remember when you have oily skin is that you can not just forget to moisturize or use oils/creams. I have heard so many people (and I used to be one of them!) who just deprive their skin of hydrating products because they have oily skin. Once you start to give your skin the hydration it needs, a lot of times the oil will start to control itself. This Gel-Cream gives a Mattifying effect but keeps my dryness from the retinol at bay, AND keeps my oily skin hydrated. It really is the best of both worlds. AND, it is a clean product. Do you see a trend 😛
For my nighttime routine, I keep the same cleanser and toner in my lineup. I do double cleanse though to ensure that I got off all of the gunk from my makeup. You don’t want to sleep with all of that on your face! After cleansing and toning, then I go in with my favorite item on the list:
Acne Treatment: Sunday Riley, UFO Acne Treatment Serum
This serum is what has saved my skin so so many occasions. With consistent use, your acne will almost go completely away. I will still get the annoying and stubborn hormonal acne, but it is not NEAR as bad as it used to be and it goes away much faster (if I don’t pick at it!). This serum has been such a Godsend for my skin. It is high in price, but you only need 4 drops to cover your own face (could probably get away with 3), and it usually lasts me 6+ months! They also have a trial size you can try it out for half the cost, it will last you at least a month!
Moisture Mask: Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
Most times, I go straight to bed after the serum mentioned above. However, if I am feeling dull or getting dry spots I will go in with a layer of this mask and my skin the next morning wakes us super bright and hydrated! There is nothing much better than having your skin feel that smooth and plump!

There are a few things I have also begun doing with cosmetics that I feel have made a huge impact on my makeup application. The biggest of those is Botox! I have been seeing Rachel at Franks Dermatology for a little over a year, and I have had the best results. Botox will soften those lines in your forehead and really help smooth your makeup application. Botox will do all of the things that you hope serums and makeup primers will do. The lines will just disappear in about two weeks and just that alone will make you hooked! If you are in Central Arkansas, Rachel is your girl! I also dermaplanned my face for the first time with Rachel and OMG. My face looked so hydrated and my skin tone was instantly more even from removing all of the dead skin cells. Let’s just say Rachel is a jack of all trades. I have also had my lips done (See the full post HERE) and Kybella and I have never felt more confident.
If you guys have any questions about the above or would like more content like this, let me know! I have been absolutely loving skincare lately and would love to share what has worked for me. Also, what works for me may not work for you. If you have specific concerns or questions, reach out to Rachel or your local dermatologist. I am definitely not a skin expert.
xoxo, Brooke Anne
