I am just going to preface this by saying I am not giving the exact location or date (yet ;). Derek and I need to discuss about if we want that information to be public yet, or wait until closer to time.
About 2.5 weeks after Derek and I got engaged, I started reaching out to venues to see what their availability was from January-April 2020 to see when we should start really looking. I figured we had plenty of time to book a venue. Well boy was I wrong! Our Top 3 venues only had THREE dates left for that entire quarter. “Umm, okay” I thought, we needed to get on the ball.
As we began looking around we came across this gorgeous venue close to our hometown. We figured that would make it easier for our grandparents to be able to get home after, and not have to stay in a hotel or be home super late. The venue is atop a mountain and has the most gorgeous views below. Since it is on a mountain, there is also a slight breeze, so that is nice as well!
So… we have a date and I am not going to share the exact date just yet, however we are getting married in the month of… drum roll please…..
MAY!
May of 2020. We really wanted April, but since we will be getting married outdoors, we wanted it to be warm, but not too warm and also a lesser chance of rain! I never ever thought I would get married in any month outside of October-March/April, but here I am. We also chose next May because my little sister gets married in October, and my best friend gets married in November! I wanted my family and friends to be able to relax after both of these fun times before we kicked back up again for my wedding!
So with about 13 months until the big day, I feel like we have a great head start on things! The package we got with our venue actually comes with a coordinator *PRAISE*, so we are excited to be able to relax during this process, enjoy being engaged, and have someone else hackle with the vendors for us!
Also they say that this part of your life flies by and it is hard to believe that we have already been engaged for a month! 13 months will be here before we know it and I can not believe it!
