About a week or so after I got engaged, I did a question box on Instagram asking for all of the tips/tricks/recommendations for wedding planning and oh my goodness, you all were so helpful! I have gotten a few messages asking me to share them so here is my dedicated blog post to do that!
A lot of the answers were kind of the same… hire a planner, stay within budget, etc. However, some of them were things I would have never thought. Below are the top answers I received!
Top Instagram Tips/Tricks for Planning a Wedding
Host your shower at least 2 months in advance.
If you’re going to splurge, do it on photography
Buy your dress first and plan everything else around that
Remember that DIY doesn’t mean it’ll be cheaper- sometimes its more!!
Pick your top 3 things and make sure those happen. The rest can compromise.
No one will read the menu.
No one cares about extravagant table numbers.
Depending on your wedding size, you do not need 2 photographers (this came from a photographer)
Do all bridesmaid and groomsman photos before the ceremony.
Hair and Makeup will more than likely take 30 minutes longer than anticipated.
Let your photographer have priority over the timeline.
Make sure your venue provides set up, take down and cleaning!
Floral’s will be one of the most expensive things!
Minimalism is in, so don’t feel the need to go overboard with florals.
Set your budget, and don’t go away from it.
Hire a bomb @$$ photographer (hehe TX friends look into my girl Aly Hester!)
Hire someone to assist you. Rather it be the entire process or just for the day.
Invite who YOU want there.
Use Excel for everything!
Plan ahead as much as you can!
Go small and save the money you would use for a big ceremony! The BEST decision my husband and I made.
Buy thank you notes before you receive gifts so you can get them rolling out!
Buy a gift log to keep up with who/what gifts you get. It helps to keep organized!
As a calligrapher, if you plan to use one book your calligrapher when you order your invitations!
State getting addresses now! It took me forever, and use excel to organize them.
Hire a planner. Worth every penny!!!
I will say, when we met with our venue they told us they had an “all inclusive” option, and it came with a coordinator/planner. I jumped on that!! The girls in charge have made this process so fun and easy! They give us options to chose from in regards to vendors, and we just get to pick our favorites and then move on. I like to say I am easy to please, but I gave them my mood board and they have taken the reigns.
I am so excited to see how everything turns out; I just have about 13 months to get to that point- hah! Well that is all for this weeks Wedding Wednesday- hope you enjoyed it! What is something that you learned during your wedding process that would be helpful for others to know? Leave me a comment to let me know! 🙂
